Americade 2022
(June 5 - 12, 2022)

Billed as the largest multi-brand touring motorcycle
rally in the
world, Americade is held each year in Lake George New York. Boasting 40
thousand strong, bikes are everywhere. Offering great riding
opportunities in the Adirondack mountains and the surround area, there
is fun to be had both on and off the bike. This was my wife and my
second Americade and there was much to see and do. From seminars to
demo rides to guide tours, the week was kept busy.
We left home on Sunday June 5 to meet up with a good friend Rich and his
wife Darcy for the trip to New York. That evening we spent the night
with another friend Bob and Polly in Elma NY. Bob is a transplant
from Michigan where he and I met in my local Goldwing chapter.
Over the next 8 days our jouney continued....
The eight day trip cover 2,100+ miles, many memories
and a longing to go back for another dose of Lake George and Americade.

Tuesday
Tuesday we headed out to the
Fort William Henry hotel which was the base for the event.
My first objective was to schedule a few demo rides. My first
ride was on a Honda NC750 DCT adventure style bike in the
morning and a Goldwing Tour DCT in the afternoon. Both of
these bikes featured a Dual Clutch transmission. A little
strange to not to have to shift manually. We had a fine lunch
at Biscotti Brothers Cafe with dinner at Saluti in Lake George. |

Wednesday
Wednesday was the first of our
scheduled guided rides. The weather was warm with a few clouds
and a slight breeze, perfect for riding.
After staging
with the other 2 dozen bikes we headed off to our lunch stop at
the Basin Harbor resort in Vermont.
The Beach family has been running
Basin Harbor since 1886, and now on their fifth generation at the
resort. The Beaches are hands-on stewards of Basin Harbor and
care deeply about the experiences of all of their guests.
After lunch, we coninued our journey back to Lake George over the Lake
Champlain bridge and many of the fine motorcycle roads in the
area.
Dinner that night was at the Adirondack Pub and Brewery in
Lake George where we dined with some of Bob's friends from his
Goldwing chapter.

Thursday
Thursday started with LOTS of rain, so we decided to not attempt
The Spoiler
guided tour ride we had scheduled. This was the ride I was
looking forward to featuring farmland and rolling hills on
gently winding roads towards Vermont’s Green Mountains. The
lunch stop was at a top-shelf
impressive 400-acre estate in beautiful Manchester Vermont. The
estate was the summer home of
Robert and Mary Lincoln
the only
son of President Abraham Lincoln. Maybe on another trip we can
make it to this destination.
So we headed out in the
4-wheeler to check out the local sites and shop Lake George.
First, we walked through the vendors on Beach St only to
find small lakes had formed from all the rain. Umbrellas were
the attire of the day.
Lunch was at Mezzaluna Restaurant
in Lake George where we dined on some great Italian fair.
Our first choice for dinner, The Log Cabin was booked up for
the night, so we headed back to Lake George. After trying
several restaurants in town, we also found long waits so we
headed up 9N around Lake George to find a great restaurant, The
Boat House.
The restaurant was located at the waters edge
several hundred feet below the road. A careful drive down a
winding driveway we parked our vehicle and had to traverse
several stairs down to the restaurant. We were glad to find they
had golf cart shuttles available to take you back up the hill to
our car after your dining experience.

Friday
Friday we took another stroll through the vendor area
and followed up with an afternoon ride around Lake George
with lunch in Bolton's Landing. That evening was dinner at The Log
Cabin before the closing ceremonies and grand
prize drawings back at the Big Top tent at Fort William Henry. We deceided to skip the fireworks and retired to our hotel room
early to get ready to head home
the next day.

Saturday
Saturday we headed back to Elma NY where spent the
night and had dinner at the King Crab in Buffalo. On Sunday we said goodbye to Bob and Polly and thanked
them for their hospitality before continuing on home Sunday June
12.
