Motorcycle Amateur Radio/GPS Tracking System Installation

To provide GPS tracking for the bike the system uses a Byonics Micro-Trak RTG APRS tracker.  This device utilizes a TinyTrak 3 TNC, a 10 watt 2 meter transmitter and a 12v voltage regulator in one box.  Along with a Byonics GPS-2 receiver and a  Diamond SG7500A antenna system, the system is "Ready-To-Go".

This system can provide GPS tracking using the position provided by the GPS and transmitted through the transmitter on a frequency of 144.39 MHz.  A network system called APRS uploads the position information to a Internet web site call APRS.FI.  By using the Call sign of KC8YVF-10, the bike can be tracked when the system is active.

For GPS navigation, a Garmin Nuvi 255W is mounted to the dash area of the fairing.
